Art of the Day by Scott Moore

Lindsay Stapleton creates beautiful illustrations that blend human anatomy with floral forms. From lungs that transform into lichens, to cabbage leaves softly turning into hands, her strong line-quality and clean sense of design truly breathe life into these hybrid creations.

Lindsay explains about her work,

“I am primarily a drawer – graphite, pen and ink, printmaking and gouache are some of my favorite mediums. I studied art at ArtCenter of Pasadena through high school programs and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Currently I am interested in the idea of constructing organic forms made from incongruous parts. Delving into botany and anatomy, I’m visually researching the similarities between organic life forms and the human body reduced to organic systems and structures.

Some of my favorite artists include JMW Turner, Katsushika Hokusai, Whistler, Hayao Miyazaki, and Gerhard Richter.”
