We offer film digitizing services at a high resolution for film negatives
including 35mm, transparency, X-pan, and APS.
We have moved beyond film scanners and now use a Fuji GFX100 and Macro lenses along with a light table to digitize film.
We feel that medium format digital cameras and macro lenses have far surpassed traditional flatbed and film scanners such as the Nikon Coolpix 9000 in quality and usability, and our medium format camera setup offers the best possible resolution, clarity and shadow detail. Our setup also eliminates the issue of scan lines and Newton’s rings when digitizing film.
Mail-In Only
We accept film negatives and transparencies via USPS, Fedex or UPS. Our turnaround is within 5 working days. Files will be provided in TIF, JPG or DNG format via a Dropbox link. We do not provide physical media such as a CD or USB stick.
Color
We do our best to ensure color temperature is accurate but final color editing is up to the client. Generally photographers know best what they want from their own photography, and we feel that photographers are the best judge of their own color intentions.
Editing
We do not edit for scratches and dust beyond basic editing. Film slides and transparencies often have dust and scratches not visible to the naked eye but will show when enlarged on a monitor. We do basic editing but we do charge a separate editing fee for heavy editing on old slides and transparencies.
